RCC and Enterprise VoIP RRS feed

  • Question

Does anybody know if it is possible to combine RCC and VoIP? A customer just asked me that question and I'm not sure.

  • Hi,

This is possible to have both for a user. Nortel's dual forking solution provides both. See http://www.innovativecommunicationsalliance.com/mirror/index.html

  • True Dual Forking is an Enterprise Voice-only scenario, the scenario you want to look at called "Enterprise Voice with PBX integration (aka Dual Forking with RCC)"

Take a look at this blog for more details:

  • As Anesh writes you can do both with Nortel however several PBX doesn't support this.
In those cases, RCC will only allow you to initiate calls from Communicator but not speak over it, you have to use you normal phone.

The only implementation I have worked with that support all scenarios in a good way is the Nortel CS1000.

You can have Microsoft Enterprise Voice (VOIP), Dual Forking or not and also RCC with or without any of the other two.

So in the end, it depend on the PBX.
