Some SharePoint site names may need to be changed before transitioning to Office 365 RRS feed

  • Some SharePoint site names may need to be changed before transitioning to Office 365

If your BPOS organization has created a top-level site in BPOS that uses the word ‘sites’, ‘teams’, ‘search’, ‘personal’, ‘my’, or ‘admin’, then you will need to rename that site before transitioning to Office 365 (example: https://contoso.sharepoint.com/sites.)  The new SharePoint 2010 architecture used in Office 365 uses these words as managed paths and therefore does not allow the site names to transition from BPOS.
