Data Sync stuck at Loading tables... RRS feed

  • Question

  • Greetings. The title pretty much says it all. Trying to set up Data Sync and at the point where I should select tables to add, but I hit Refresh Schema and it just displays Loading tables... forever.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance! ChrisRDBA

  • Did not you try using sqlpackage.exe? I have been using it many times without issues

  • I didn't know it existed. Data Sync is more like replication -- this looks like more of an ETL tool?

  • It is more like BCP ,and yes  you can use it in SSIS package

    So example

    @ECHO OFF

    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\140\DAC\bin\SqlPackage.exe" ^
        /Action:Extract ^
        /SourceDatabaseName:a ^
        /SourceServerName:servername ^
        /SourceUser:login ^
        /SourcePassword:pass ^
        /TargetFile:C:\TEMP\_Extract.dacpac ^
        /p:IgnoreExtendedProperties=True ^
        /p:ExtractAllTableData=False

ECHO Hit the "any" key to publish the extracted data
    PAUSE

    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\140\DAC\bin\SqlPackage.exe" ^
        /Action:Publish ^
        /SourceFile:C:\TEMP\_Extract.dacpac ^
        /TargetDatabaseName:b ^
        /TargetServerName:servername ^
        /TargetUser:login ^
        /TargetPassword:pass ^
        /p:DropObjectsNotInSource=False ^

  • Thanks Uri, but DS is supposed to keep data in sync between source and destination by moving changed data every 5 minutes. This is more what I'm after.

  • You can possibly get more detail by hitting Refresh Log on the previous pane (Database Sync Group?).

I found a login error was able to correct it by giving a SQL login instead of an AAD account.
