cisco calling ocs, rnl not working RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi guys,

On OCS installs for co-existence I always seem to have problems with RBL working..

e.g. If a cisco user that has an phone number of 1234 and also has an Active Directory account where the telephone number field and ip phone field on his account is populated with +1234. When this caller calls an ocs user the toast only shows the number +1234 instead of resolving the callers name from AD. Should this work?

if the calling Cisco user also has an OCS enabled account with number +1234 then it will resolve his name

Your input would be most helpful

    Thanks a million

  • Take a look in this link, the process is the same for CCM:

  • Thanks Bruno but I have all those updates already applied.....

I think the issue is that the pbx is not sending the + even though it looks like the mediation server normalizes the number to +1234 as +1234 shows up on the toast

When I used dialogics gateway I always added a + before I sent it to mediation server and the RBL always worked. I think I am going to have to get the CCM to do the same so that the CCM sends +1234 to Mediation Server. As when it sends 1234 and even though Mediation Server normalizes that number ( i.e. the toast pops up as +1234) It seems that RBL will not work unless the Mediation Server receives the number with the + already prefixed

It would be nice if Mediation Server could do the lookup after normalizing the incoming number or is it suppose to work this way?

  • Yes I have this cenario. My CCM send the number without + (i.e. 1234), so I created a normalization rule to add + to number, then the number showed in pop-up is +1234 and the RBL work fine.

Try to create a normalization rule to add + on received numbers.

  • Hi Bruno,
I do have an normalization rule on my global voice properties to add the + to 1234. However I think I found out why RNL is not working. I think its because of the MOC address book galcontacts.db. I need to configure the norm rules in a file on the server called Company_Phone_Number_Normalization_Rules.txt as well as in the voice properties. The MOC downloads this file and uses it for RNL. Once I have the rules correct in this text file RNL should work hopefully :-)

Note: When I used dialogic gateways I never had to configure this file. Once I sent the number already normalized to mediation server RNL always worked

  • Perfect, so the solution is:

    1) Normalize all incoming calls to add + in the number.
    2) Edit the "Company_Phone_Number_Normalization_Rules.txt" file to normalize all numbers in "Telephone" tab of user's properties to add + in the number.
