Collection refresh taking over an hour? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

In out environment I have many collections that are taking a really long time to refresh including the all systems collection. We only have about 158 collections which are "Scheduled and Incremental" and the rest are just "Scheduled". Any reason why this could be taking so long or what to check? TIA

  • There are many reasons, from Slow SQL server, to slow disk sub system to bad queries to to many queries link to all systems, etc.

Take a look at ceviewer to see what collections take a long time to update. Then try to fix the queries... That would my starting point.

  • Also, do you really need that many scheduled to be incremental? CEViewer (the tool that Garth called out) will tell you the last time a collection's membership was actually updated. This isn't definitive but is usually a good indicator of a collection not needing to use incremental updates.
