Question

Hi All,
I am very new to this Opalis thing, I need to introduce Opalis in our enviroment which is very big comprising of many systems, I need to have POC in which I will show that Opalis will integrate with CA/Remedy and SCOM.
For this I need your quick help,
1. Can we integrate Remedy with Opalis 6.3 ?
2. After integration with SCOM and CA (forget remedy) Can I do the following from Opalis:
a. If a problem comes in a server, SCOM detects and a ticket opens in CA and email alerts are sents for the ticket, once the issue is fixed ticket closes itself.
3. Give me some more ideas I can fulfill from Opalis that can help us impress the management.
Looking forward for the usual support..

Hi Naveed,
in short :
1. Yes opalis 6.3 has a integration pack for Remedy (ARS 5.4) as well as for several CA products. (there is even a technet article about SCOM & BMC Remedy via Opalis : http://technet.microsoft.com/nl-be/library/ff653479(en-us).aspx)
2. Yes, Opalis can monitor for scom alerts and generate actions based on that, the closure should be possible depending on your SCOM settings.
3. This all depends on your environment...a classic example is automated VM provisioning (check http://systemcentercentral.com/BlogDetails/tabid/143/IndexID/86038/Default.aspx) based on a Change request or MS Cluster patching (http://blogs.technet.com/b/opalis/archive/2010/11/22/opalis-6-3-automating-hyper-v-cluster-patching-using-the-configuration-manager-ip-part-1.aspx).
Hope it helps

I confirm that the integration Remedy / Opalis is working well.
I'm using it for create a remedy incident for each scom alert, and to retreive the incident number in the alert ticket id field.
Depending of your planning, Microsoft annonces System Center Orchestrator (opalis sucessor) for the end of the year. Currently, the beta one is already available.

Hi Christopher:
We are trying to integrate Opalis with the the CMDB of Remedy v7.6. We have got the integratión pack but appears the following error: could not load AR System API arapi71.Dll. System error 126.
Do you have any document that could help us to make it easier.
For instans we need to create incidents in Remedy from opalis but using scom as source.
Thanks.Thursday, July 7, 2011 9:53 PM -

Opalis Integration Pack for BMC Remedy AR System 5.40
supports the followings Remedy versions :
BMC Remedy AR System 7.1, 7.0, 6.3, 6.0, 5.1

Is there a way I can make a process which is automated for resetting user's passwords, since it has been a headache ...
I have found a way to do it but its not practical in our environment, please let me know if anyone have a idea..

There are lots of ways to do this. like here:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/opalis/archive/2010/05/05/active-directory-password-reset-policy.aspx
Resetting a password with Opalis is very easy. The hard part is usually defining , mapping and documenting your process. Building a workflow isn't terribly difficult as long as you have that done.
