SharePoint 2016: Document library information management policy workflow, task list item creation workflow does not triggers... RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We are on SharePoint Server 2016. We have a document library on which we are starting SharePoint designer 2013 workflow on item modified. From this workflow we are using Assign a Tasks action for approval. On this task list item creation we are triggering SharePoint 2010 workflow with Impersonation step to replace list item permission.

We are triggering Document library workflow in two different ways:

    1. When user uploads document and set metadata: The task list item created because of Assign a task list. Task List item creation workflow triggers in this case as user is triggering document library workflow.

    2. From Information management policy: However In case of Document Library workflow triggers by Information mgt policy, it creates task list item (because of Assign a task action). However it does triggers Task List Workflow which is set to start on Item Creation. We observed that in this case Document library workflow and task list item created by SharePoint APP user.

What configuration are we missing at our end because of which task list item creation workflow does not get triggers in case of Document library workflow triggers (task list item created) by Information mgt policy (SharePoint APP User).

  • Microsoft changed the ability for a workflow to auto-trigger a workflow, due to the infinite loop that it would cause. (Like changing an item in a WF that triggers another instance of an on change workflow of that item.)

So, your English is a little broken, but I think I understand this is what you're trying to do.
