Direct Access MP for Server 2016

Question
-
We have Direct Access running from Server 2016 VM's and want to monitor it. Unfortunately the Server 2012r2 version of the MP from Microsoft doesn't monitor DA running from Server 2016 (or 2019). I can't find a 2016 version of the MP, is there one I'm missing? Or is there any advice about creating a new one in MP Author - which I'm a complete noob at using?Wednesday, March 13, 2019 2:54 PM

Kevin has created a Remove Access management pack that works for Windows Server 2012 and later, this includes Windows Server 2016 & Windows Server 2019.

Hi Eric,
As far as I know there doesn't exist a Direct Access management pack for Windows Server 2016 / Windows Server 2019.
There are "speculations/rumours" going around for Microsoft Direct Access, but remember these are just speculations/rumours which doesn't necessarily have to mean anything.
It is however interesting to know why Microsoft is recommending to migrate from DirectAccess to Always on VPN or to use Always on VPN instead of DirectAccess.
Best regards,

Which MP are you trying to use, more specifically?
The "Direct Access" one is pretty old and does indeed only work with SCOM 2008 R2, but the "Remote Access" supports all "Remote Access" features (including Direct Access) and should work with pretty much any version of Windows.
edit : I may have spoken too quickly, I only checked the seed discovery and saw it was targeted at "windows computer" so you should at least have the seed instances discovered. I have not checked the whole PS script that is executed afterwards.- Edited by CyrAz Wednesday, March 13, 2019 3:30 PM

There’s also a feedback for a Remote Access management pack for Windows Server 2016 here:

@CyrAz - Unfortunately the MP only works on 2012R2 servers. We have DA on one domain on 2012R2 and that shows fine, but on other domains using 2016 it doesn't.
@Leon Laude - I've added my votes to the feedback, but not expecting anything soon. We tried to switch to Always on VPN but couldn't get it to work even with help from 3rd line Premier Support. So it's back to DA.

Hi Eric,
Did you install Microsoft System Center Management Pack for Windows Server 2016 and 1709 Plus before installing DA MP ?

@MajidNavvabi the Server 2016 MP was imported before the RemoteAccess 2012R2 MP. I'm not sure why that would make any difference though.Thursday, March 14, 2019 8:01 AM
