Globally Set NOCOUNT ON for Azure SQL RRS feed

  • Question

  • HI team,

We are trying to set NOCOUNT to ON globally on Azure SQL, we saw a similar option for SQL Server on prem but not for Azure SQL. Is it possible to do that in Azure SQL

In the T-SQL Docs, it doesn't say how to set it globally

    Please suggest.

    Thanks,

    Can you post a link?

SET NOCOUNT is a statement per batch or procedure body to stop sending row count messages to the client.

  • Hi

The SET NOCOUNT ON has a scope for current user only. It can be set globally using user options. But not in Azure SQL.

After checking it looks like you are following the below doc:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/database-engine/configure-windows/configure-the-user-options-server-configuration-option?view=sql-server-ver15

If you see this document is not valid for Azure SQL. Also it is never recommended to set any value at global level and you should try to incorporate this in your queries.

    Hope this helps.

  • I was fully aware of this, thus I asked to OP to post a link were he has seen this.

btw, use the "Open link in new window" option. I never understood, why this is not the default or even mandatory..
