  • Hello,

I am currently upgrading SCCM from SCCM 1806 to SCCM 1902. While I check the prerequisites, it stays in Installation-->Extract Update package for a long time. Looking into cmupdate.log it gives the following message:

  • Hi,

Did you completely disable all AV when checking the prerequisites?

  • I uninstalled windows defender feature using powershell. I removed defender from management point only. Do I have to remove it from SQL server as well or any other site server?

  • Hello,

I'm facing the exact same issue while upgrading to SCCM 1902.

Any luck with your installation so far ?

    Hi,

I disabled windows defender from all of the site servers. Is there any problem installing 1902 directly from 1806 rather than applying update 1810 first?

  • No luck yet. Even after turning off Real time protection in Windows Defender from all site servers, results are same. I used update reset tool and deleted the old package and tried again. I wonder if any other users are getting the similar error code.

  • No, upgrading from 1806 to 1902 is completely supported.

Have you tried rebooting the site server or using a tool like procmon to determine which process is interfering with the file copy?

As a side note, MPs have nothing to do with content.

  • Hi Jason,

Thanks for the idea about procmon. I got some details wondering whether they are related to the issue I am having. Looking onto this now.

  • While ProcMon maybe be helpful, I actually mistyped that and meant Process Explorer.

  • Prerequisite check passed after I manually moved the contents from Microsoft Configuration Manager\EasySetupPayload\936c9d3e-5065-4c95-bab6-7db24f64083a to Microsoft Configuration Manager\CMUStaging\936C9D3E-5065-4C95-BAB6-7DB24F64083A. I will try installing upgrade this way. I will post my results.

  • I was able to install SCCM 1902. The only troubleshooting I did was manually copy the contents from Microsoft Configuration Manager\EasySetupPayload\936c9d3e-5065-4c95-bab6-7db24f64083a to Microsoft Configuration Manager\CMUStaging\936C9D3E-5065-4C95-BAB6-7DB24F64083A. Sounds funny but it solved the problem.

  • I'm having the same issue. Only going from 1902 to 1906. I've tried copying the file from EasySetupPayload to CMUStaging, which has fixed this issue in the past. However it keeps deleting it after checking the hash. The hashes are actually the same.

    AV is off.

    I'm in a post-replication state so I can't delete the package.
