Client found response content type of '', but expected 'text/xml'. RRS feed

  • Question

  • when I ran the ESP job I am getting error "Client found response content type of '', but expected 'text/xml'." but manually I am able to run the report.

    Windows Server : 2003

<ReportServiceUrl>http://host/ReportServer/reportservice.asmx?</ReportServiceUrl> ( I have found out even if I make changes to this the error is not changing )

I have given access to account same as production.

    Could you please help me.

  • Hi Sandeep Devadiga,

In Reporting Service, this error is caused by calling web services failure. For rendering a report, we should add execution endpoint to URL. ReportExecution2005 endpoint takes effect when developers customize report processing and rendering from a report server. In your scenario, the issue could be the wrong web services URL. The correct URL should looks like: http://hostname/ReportServer/ReportExecution2005.asmx?

You can refer to these similar threads:client found response content type of ", but expected 'text/xml'

    SSRS 2005 IIS6

    Hope it will help

  • Hi Dawn Young

    I have added '?' like "http://hostname/ReportServer/ReportExecution2005.asmx?"

Now I am getting below error:

Message: An error has occurred during report processing. ---> Microsoft.ReportingServices.ReportProcessing.ProcessingAbortedException: An error has occurred during report processing. ---> Microsoft.ReportingServices.ReportProcessing.ReportProcessingException: Cannot create a connection to data source 'PAY_DS'. ---> System.Exception: OCIEnvCreate failed with return code -1 but error message text was not available.
    05:00:56 Error: Main

in PAY_DS.rds there is a Oracle db, I am able to connect manually.

The server was not in use since 2010, is it anything to do with configuration?

  • Hi Sandeep Devadiga,

This issue is likely to caused by the user credential issue. Have you complete the Credential in report server web portal as below:

Another point please check if Oracle enable remote connections.

Here are similar threads, I think these will help:

Cannot create connection to the datasource 'Datasource'

Cannot create a connection to data source Error (rsErrorOpeningConnection) in SSRS

  • Hi,

I have tried the suggestion given in "https://logic.edchen.org/how-to-resolve-tns-12535-tns-operation-timed-out/."

    Not able to resolve it.

  • Hi Dawn Young,

What do you think could be the issue?

I am new to SSRS, As you suggested I have tried to make changes in  RSReportServer.config  still I am getting Error: "The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized"

Other user can execute the exe manually from command prompt which runs the SSRS reports but I am unable to ran same from service account which is having admin access and content manager role in report server.

When I login to the server (where exe exists) we are getting popup error "wmi encountered a problem and needed to close"  Does this anything to do with the Unauthorized issue?

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/reporting-services/wmi-provider-library-reference/reporting-services-wmi-provider-library-reference-ssrs?view=sql-server-ver15

    Thanks

    Sandeep

  • Hi Dawan,

To connect with database only datasource setup and store password in report server is enough?

Or Do we need to setup ODBC data source in server also?

what are the things required for successful connection ?

    Thanks,

    Sandeep
