Old SCCM schema extension RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all:
I am working on a SCCM CB implementation, where there was an old SCCM 2012 site. That old SCCM 2012 site had extended the AD schema. AFAIK, is not correct re extend the schema.
    My question
    - How can I use that schema extension in order to reuse old containers?
    - It is possible undo the schema extension?

    Thank you in advance

If your Active Directory schema was extended for Configuration Manager 2007 or System Center 2012 Configuration Manager, then you don't need to do more. The schema extensions are unchanged and will already be in place. Refer to this.

Extending the schema is a forest-wide, one-time, irreversible action. Refer to this.

Hope my answer could help you and look forward to your feedback.

  • A couple of additional notes:

    - Re-extending the schema is unharmful. Useless, but unharmful.

    - The System Management container is unrelated to the schema. Containers are simply objects in AD no different that users or computers really. You can delete it, reACL it, delete objects in it, etc.
