  • Hi,

Please check if there is any event created in System and Application of Event Viewer.

Is that alll the drive letters disappeared from the folder explorer or just the drive that have changed disappeared?

What does the diskpart cmd look like? Could you please upload a screenshot about the screen to OneDrive and share link here? Please hide your privacy information.

If all the drive letters disappeared but in the disk management, we should concentrate on troubleshoot file explorer issue.

The following fixit tool may be useful to this issue.

Please try to use the System File Checker tool (SFC.exe) to check system files and recovery corrupted files, here are steps:

    1. Open Command Prompt (as administrator).

    2. Type sfc /scannow, and then press Enter.

Please check the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\MountedDevices in registry (Type regedit in search box, then press Enter). Here is my test machine shotcreen. And you could also compare it with another same version Windows 7.

Please try to boot into safe mode to see if the issue still occur.

Here are steps to enter safe mode.

    1. Just before the Windows 7 splash screen shown above appears, press the F8 key to enter Advanced Boot Options.

    2. Using the arrow keys on your keyboard, highlight the Safe Mode and press Enter.

If the issue only occurred with the specific disk, is it listed in diskpart cmd?

If yes, try it on other machines. Please backup the data and also try to format.
