Problems getting CSV online RRS feed

  • Frage

  • Hello Folks,

I am planing to bring a 2012 Hyper V Cluster up and running.

First I installed a 2012 Server and configured the iSCSI Software Target to provide a 3 TB SAN Storage, then I installed 2 2012 Servers, configured them basically and was able to connect with iSCSI to my configured SAN Storage.

So far everything worked liked a charm.

Then I created a FailoverCluster (Cluster Validation was everything allright). When I want to add the Storage (it does not matter if i'll let do this the Cluster Wizard or i'll do it manually) it takes around one hour to get it online. Then I want to format it to provide a CSV. After i did that (takes hours although i use the "quick format" option) I am able to add the CSV to my Cluster so that every Node can access C:\ClusterStorage\Volume1\etc...

But when I take the Storage offline, I am not able to get it online again. I only receive Timeout from the rhs.dll / exe

My Quorum (2 GB Storage) is able to get on and offline really quick.

So is there any kind of limitation about the Size of a CSV that it cannot be bigger than X GB or something like this?

When I create some CSV with only 10 or 20 GBs everything can come on and offline like expected.

I have a 2008 R2 Cluster up and running, and there I am able to get a 3 TB LUN on and offline in less then 30 seconds (same Hardware for the 2012 Cluster)

Can anyone please give me a hint what i am missing or doing wrong? Perhaps this whole Process is differnet from 2008 to 2012 and i have to do it another way?

    Thanks in advance

As you decribe your problem, this sounds like something is going wrong with the iSCSI storage system. Can you see any errors in the system event log of the servers?

If you build a "single" node cluster - just one server and iSCSI storage, does the problem happens there also?
