Can Resource Units be shown as a column in the main project plan?

    Frage

  • Hi

When you open the Task Summary Information screen, you have the Units field - can this field be displayed on a project plan?

We use Project for resource planning and this field is used to show what % of a resource's work day is spent on a task. It works really well, but I'd like to see "Units" displayed on the main plan.

    Cheers

  • You can add Unit field on any of the assignment view in PWA.

Server setting --> manage view --> Open Assignment view add Unit field from left panel to right click on Save.

Unit field is applicable in Assignment view only in PWA (Project Server). You can not add it in stand alone MS project Professional plan for grantt chart .

In Resource usage or Task usage you can add Assignment unit or peak filed which will give you the same result .

In MPP you can Use Peak field in resource usage view

  • Hi Scotty,

You can add the assignment unit field in PWA and MS Project Pro in ASSIGNMENT VIEWS.

    • In Project Pro, just insert the "Assignment units" column, clicking right on the headers. Please sure to do that in a usage view (either resource or task). It will not work in a Gantt view for instance.
    • In PWA, go to server settings, manage view, pick-up an assignment project view and insert the unit field.

    Hope this helps.

  • In Gantt Chart, it is not possible to display the units without the resource names. If you would like to see the Units of the resource on each task, you can use the Task Usage view with Assignment Units field (or) split the Gantt Chart view (right click on the Gantt chart area - right side, and choose Show Split), and this should display the Task Form on the bottom. Right click on the Task Form and choose Work to see the resource names, units, work assigned along with Start and Finish

  • Thank you!!! I only use this field once a year or so and I have to search for the name every time! Haha

    Thanks a Gazillion, Mike
