pdf-preview in Browser

Dear All

We are using Sharepoint Foundation 2013. When I click on a link that point to a pdf document in the document library I get "Do you want to save exmple.pdf (77.7KB) from 156.26.22.36?". I'd rather have a preview of example.pdf within my webrowser.

Is there something I have to configure within Sharepoint? First I thought that it depends on the configuration of my webbrowser. I found out that pdf documents from other webservers can be viewed within webbrowser whereas example.pdf as mentioned above can't.

Hi Sam,

first of all - please note, that Office WebApp Server Need to be licensed in Volume Licensing or MSDN Subscription (also for SharePoint Foundation - which supports Office WebApps but not include them) - Download the Office WebApps Install-Package from VL or MSDN Website. You have to install Office WebApps Server on dedicated physical machine, seperated from SharePoint Foundation. Connect both Servers using powershell command.

To activate PDF-Preview in Search-Results you have to use some tricks. Start with installing the March-Update for SharePoint Foundation from Microsoft Download Center and follow Wictor Wiléns blog post.
