SCCM 2007: Cannot deploy Office 2010 RRS feed

    Hi all,

    I'm desperately trying to deploy Office 2010 Professional Plus (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, Outlook) via SCCM 2007.
    Although I'm sure I made every preparing step, the distribution fails.

    1. My Office installation files are stored in a shared folder on my SCCM server with access right for my network access account.
    2. I've prepared a MSP by using OCT for having a customized installation
    3. I've copied config.xml fromout the "ProPlus.WW" into my Office root directory.
    4. I've created a package and program in SCCM the way I did for any other application, too - and even by following Microsoft's guide on http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff404178.aspx
    5. I've published my program on my DP and advertised it afterwards.
    6. In the last step the client (my test PC) receives the advertisement and my logfile in "Systemstatus/Advertisement Status/<advertisement>" says the the advertisment was received and run. But nothing happens until the log says that the installation process exceeded the given amount of time.

    I've also downloaded a Office 2007.sms definition file and created a package from definition but still the same result.
    I've also followed the guide on Windows-Noob.com - unsuccesfully.

    Now I think the problem could be the path to the installation files.
    In my program I have the following command line:

    "\\MyServer\sccm_software-store\Apps\Standard\Office2010\setup.exe" /config config.xml /adminfile \\MyServer\sccm_software-store\Apps\Standard\Office2010\Updates\InstallationsMSP20100913_Test.msp

    Question: Do I have to put the path in "" and if yes do I have to put both paths in "" ?
    Or what else could be the problem and is there any logfile I could check to see why the installation fails ?

    Das macht so gar keinen Sinn (unabhängig von der Richtigkeit der Commandline an sich, die ich nicht geprüft habe). Wenn Du die Files auf einem DP hast, dann brauchst Du auf keinen Fall den UNC-Pfad dorthin angeben. Damit hebelst Du ja den content location-Mechanismus aus und startest das msi vom Share aus (anstatt vom DP). Schlimmer noch im download&execute-Fall: dann werden die Sourcen zwar in den Cache geladen, aber das msi vom Share gestartet. In diese Fällen bräuchtest Du also gar keinen DP.
    execmgr.log sollte zeigen, was genau passiert.

    Hm......nachdem vorherige Distributionen fehlschlugen, wenn die Pfadangabe nicht \\MyServer\sccm_software-store\Apps\... lautete, ging ich in diesem Fall auch so vor.
    Während z.B. der VLC, der PDFXChange Viewer und andere Applikationen über diesen Weg problemlos verteilt werden, funktioniert ebendies bei Office nicht.

    Ich sehe mir mal das erwähnte Logfile an. Vielleicht finde ich da noch ein paar Infos dazu.

    Mag ja sein, dass dies funktioniert - es macht aber technisch keinen Sinn. Prinzipiell gilt das gleiche wie hier http://mssmsfaq.de/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=35&Itemid=42&limit=1&limitstart=1 auch für ConfigMgr.

    Ok, verstehe.

    Ich wählte beim Erstellen der Pakete bisher nicht: "This package contains source files".
    Für Office 2010 habe ich dies jetzt nochmal so gemacht. Die Vorgehensweise, wie sie auch unter Deinem Link beschrieben wird, kannte ich. Diese führt jedoch bei mir - auch jetzt wieder - zu einer Fehlermeldung.

    Ich erhalte die Message-IDs 2307 und 2302, die u.a. auf fehlende Zugriffsrechte hinweisen, was ich jedoch nicht verstehen kann, da sowohl der Network Access Account als auch der Serveradmin Zugriffsrechte auf den Share haben, in dem meine Installationsdateien liegen.

    Meine Einrichtung sieht derzeit wie folgt aus:

    1. Share: SCCM_SOFTWARE-STORE (Changerechte für Networks Access Account und Serveradmin)
    2. Package/Data Source => "This package contains source files" => \\MyServer\sccm_software-store\Apps\Standard\Office2010
    2a. "Always obtain files from the source directory"
    2b. Package/Data Access: "Access the distribution folder through common ConfigMgr package share"
    3. Program/General/Command line: setup.exe /config config.xml
    3a. Program/Windows Installer: ProPlus.WW\ProPlusWW.msi

    Während der andere Weg, ohne den Verweis auf Source Files, problemlos funktioniert, scheitert dieser hier jedesmal und ich komme nicht dahinter, wieso !
    Vielleicht sehe ich auch schlicht vor lauter Bäumen den Wald nicht mehr !?

    Auf den Share SCCM_SOFTWARE-STORE sollten die Clients eigentlich niemals direkt zugreifen (es sei denn, man möchte wirklich die DPs ignorieren, was aber gerade in verteilten Umgebungen keinen Sinn macht). Der Share dient nur als Ablage für Paketquellen, die dann vom Siteserver auf die DPs verteilt werden (entsprechend braucht dort auch nur der Computeraccount des Siteservers Leserechte - und natürlich ein Admin oder Paktierer auch Schreibrechte. Fehler 2307/2302 tritt auf, wenn der Computeraccount des Siteservers dort nicht lesen kann. Steht aber auch so unmissverständlich in dem Fehlertext der Status Message). Die Clients starten dann das Programm vom DP (oder laden es von dort herunter).

    Die Meldung 2307 lautet u.a.: "SMS Distribution Manager failed to access the source directory. [...] Possible cause: SMS Distribution Manager does not have sufficient rights to the package source directory. [...]"
    Daraus konnte ich zunächst nicht entnehmen, dass der Computeraccount gemeint ist.
    Die Berechtigungen auf den Share haben jetzt der Network Access Account (sa_smsnetwork), ein Account mit Domainadminrechten (sa_smsdomain), der lokale Administrator (des Servers) (smsadmin) sowie der Computer selbst (de-sccm-01). Alle Berechtigungen habe ich testweise vergeben, um zunächst sicherzustellen, dass es überhaupt erstmal funktioniert.
    Dennoch: die gleichen beiden Fehler.

    Tut mir wirklich leid, aber ich stehe gerade vermutlich total auf dem Schlauch !

    Falls die Berechtigungen über Gruppen eingerichtet worden sein sollten => Reboot.
    Ansonsten Share- und NTFS-Permissions prüfen (ggfs per cmd im System Context auf dem Server -> dir \\server\share).

    Ok, ich habe die Installationsdateien jetzt einfach mal in einen Share verschoben, aus dem zuvor auch problemlos die Boot-Images sowie mein WIM bezogen wurden.
    Immerhin gibt's jetzt keine Fehlermeldungen mehr. Jetzt erhalte ich dafür die IDs 10002 und 10035. Scheinbar wird der Download der Installationsdateien nicht angestoßen, sodass die Installation anläuft.

    Die Voraussetzungen, die in Message ID 10002 angegeben werden, habe ich geprüft. Diese sind erfüllt. Die Ankündigung hat keine Ablaufzeit und das Programm ist aktviert.
    Was die Meldung 10035 angeht, so ist der DP für das Paket und Programm hinterlegt und sollte auch dem Client auch bekannt sein, da andere Installationen ja auch problemlos laufen.
    Die Meldung lautet zudem: "The content of this program must be downloaded into the computer's cache or the content could not be located."
    Ich denke, dass der Download kein Problem sein dürfte. Offenbar kann hier jedoch der Content nicht gefunden werden.

    10002 ist ja gewollt und sagt aus, dass das Advertisement am Client angekommen ist.
    10035 könnte an den Boundaries liegen. Sind welche definiert? Befindet sich der Client innerhalb dieser? Wie ist die Ankündigung konfiguriert (im Hinblick auf slow / fast boundaries): http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb680566.aspx? Sind manche Sitesysteme protected (geschützt)? Ist das Package auch wirklich auf mind. eine DP verteilt? Stimmt die Package-Version auf dem DP mit der Package-Version in der Policy (im execmgr.log ersichtlich)?

    Ah, das war ein wertvoller Hinweis ! Danke !
    Ja, Boundaries sind definiert. Nach Prüfung der Client-IP stellte ich fest, dass sich dieser in einem anderen VLAN befand, während die definierte Boundary für ein anderes VLAN galt. Nachdem ich den Client ins richtige VLAN brachte, kommt meine Ankündigung jetzt auch an und der Download des Pakets nach C:\Windows\system32\CCM\Cache ist erfolgreich. Nun startet aber die Installation selbst nicht.
    Das jedoch prüfe ich gleich und ändere ggfs. die Angaben im Programm, um zu sehen was danach passiert.

    Ok, die Installation startet leider nicht, obwohl alles korrekt abzulaufen scheint (dasselbe trifft auch auf andere Programme zu - keines wird nach dem Download installiert):

    1. Message-ID 10002  => passt soweit
    2. Message-ID 10035  => passt und stimmt
    2a. Der Download nach C:\Windows\system32\CCM\Cache\ ist erfolgreich
    3. Auf dem Client erscheint ein Popup, dass ein neues angekündigtes Programm verfügbar sei
    4. Message-ID 10005  => Die Pfadangabe für die Command line ist korrekt (einschließlich der Optionen "/config config.xml")

    Allerdings passiert auf meinem Testrechner danach weiter nichts. Die Dateien sind alle verfügbar, die Ankündigung läuft und die Command line verweist auf die setup.exe. Ausgeführt wird diese jedoch nicht. Weshalb ?

    Im Paket ist angegeben:

    - This package contains source files
    - Always obtain files from source directory

    In der Ankündigung:

    - Distribution Points/Download from content and run locally

    Letzten Endes scheitert die Installation mit Message-ID 10070 "...Exceeded the maximum allowed run time..."

    An dieser Stelle scheitert's am /config Parameter. Das Working-Dir ist auf das Cache-Dir gesetzt und entsprechend wird auch das config.xml dort gesucht. Abhilfe: Batch verwenden und die %~dp0 Variable, die den Wert des Verzeichnis beinhaltet, aus dem die Batch gestartet wurde.
    Am besten mit einem einfachen Package beginnen (ConfigMgr Toolkit V2), welches nur aus einem einzigen msi besteht.
