I want to poll about 10 Windows servers about every 5 minutes checking if they are still alive. The tools I found in Google (PRTG, Solarwinds, Nagios, ..) are either too complex or too expensive for the requirement of just checking liveliness.
Do you know an existing (small) tool or can give me an idea for secure implementation of such a tool (SSH?)?
