    Bei dem ersten Boot von Install DVD kommt der Startbildschirm danach nur schwarzer Bildschirm und Leerlauf.
    Nach dem Installationsversuch aus Vista werden die Dateien geladen und bis 21% entpackt, dann kommt ein reboot der zu einem Bluescreen mit ...0000124 Fehler führt.

    IT WORKS !!

    Here are the steps to successfully install Windows 7 RC if you encounter the BSOD 0x00000124 error:
    You need the file pci.sys from a Windows 7 Beta which worked.
    - Start Windows 7 RC Setup from an already installed Windows XP SP2, Vista, or Windows 7 Beta.
      You cannot start from the DVD because there you will get the BSOD immediately
    - Before it wants to reboot, prevent this
    - Copy the file 'pci.sys' from Windows 7 Beta Build 7000 from \Windows\System32\drivers\pci.sys to the newly created Windows 7 RC setup directory.
      It is on the partition you have choosen Windows 7 RC to be installed in directory \$windows.~bt\Windows\System32\drivers\pci.sys
    - Restart your computer. Windows Setup now starts successfully! :)
    - Wait until it wants to restart the second time (after 'Installing Updates' is checked)
    - Now you have to prevent the Windows Setup to boot again.
      You also may not boot the previous windows (the one you started the setup from).
      If you do anyway a window will pop up and tells you that the installation failed. After that if you boot the Windows Setup again it would rolls back the installation.
      So you have to boot either from a DVD (e.g. Bart PE) or you remove your hard drive and plug it to another computer
    - From there you have to copy pci.sys from from Windows 7 Beta again.
      This time copy it to the newly installed \Windows\System32\drivers\pci.sys on you Windows 7 RC partition
    - To prevent it from being restored you have to copy it also to \Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\machine.inf_x86_neutral_e13b2b757efc5205\pci.sys
    - After that boot the Windows 7 RC setup again
    - Wait for Windows setup to complete (it restarts a couple of times)
    Voila it works! :)

    Be aware that this is is only a workaround to get Windows 7 RC to work with computers that experience the BSOD 0x00000124 error.
    This workaround is not supported by Microsoft in any way.

    hallo drolf,

    das klingt nach defekter install-dvd. das image mit verifizierung auf einen normalen dvd-rohling (keine RW) brennen.

    habe auf meinem Zweitrechner ein ähnliches Problem
    Bei mir ist die Installation nach dem ersten Laden abgestürzt (Bildschirm blieb immer schwarz) immer und immer wieder.
    Konnte das Problem nur lösen, in dem ich die Grafikkarte (egal ob 7600GT oder 6600GT) ausgebaut habe und mit OnboardGrafik installiert habe.
    Nach der Installation baute ich die Karte wieder ein, doch beim starten hatte ich immer ein Bluescreen. Das heißt ich kann Windows 7 nur mit onboardGrafik nutzen (auf meinem anderen PC funktioniert 7 ohne Probs)

    MSI K9VGM-V, Athlon x2 3600, 7600GT, 80GB IDE

    Hallo zusammen,

    dieses Problem wurde schon mehrfach gepostet. Interessanterweise passiert dies immer mit MSI-Boards. Ich habe dies versucht nachzuvollziehen, jedoch habe ich ein Gigabyteboard. Habe ne 7300 GT und ne 8500 GT probiert und beide funktionieren. Scheint mir doch eher ein Problem des Boards in Verbindung mit Nvidia-Grafik und Win7 zu sein.

    leider nutzen einem die nvidia Treiber nichts, da man Windows mit der Grafikkarte nicht starten kann (Bluescreen)
    Das Problem liegt entweder am MSI Board (DrOLf und ich haben eins) oder es liegt eher sogar am VIA Chipsatz in Verbindung mit dem PCIexpress Steckplatz. Leider habe ich habe ich keine ATI Karte zum testen, nur eine 6600GT und ein 7600GT. Beide erzeugen ein Bluescreen nach dem ersten Ladenscreen.
    Habe versucht den neusten Vista 64bit VIA Chipsatz Treiber zu installieren, leider funktioniert dieser auch nicht.

    Danke für den Tipp, habs ausprobiert uns es funtioniert wunderbar!
    Hab jedoch noch eine Ergänzung für 64bit Nutzer:
    Der Restore-Ordner für die Treiber auf der Win7 RC Installation lautet bei der 64bit-Version NICHT "machine.inf_x86_neutral_e13b2b757efc5205", sondern "machine.inf_amd64_neutral_5a774c2b239a352c".

    Beim Kopieren der Dateien in die Systems32-Verzeichnisse hatte ich zunächst Probleme, da angezeigt wurde, dass ich eine spezielle Berechtigung bräuchte, um die Datei pci.sys zu ersetzen.
    Dazu hab ich die Vista-DVD genommen, von der aus gestartet und die Eingabeaufforderung geöffnet.
    Mit dem Befehl xcopy ließ sich alles problemlos kopieren.
    Man könnte natürlich auch die Win7 Beta DVD nehmen, jedoch besitze ich diese nicht mehr.

    Hi Lemmy,
    I had the same problem that I could not write to specific folders.
    I did the following to do it anyway:
    1. I took ownership of the folder and clicked 'yes' to take it for all files and subfolders in that folder
    2. Then I added permission to full access for my account and also replaced the permissions on all files and subfolders
    For security reasons you should remember the permissions you changed and change it back to default after Windows 7 was installed successfully.

    Hallo Lemmy27,
    fand Deinen Bericht höchst spannend, da ich auch einen Medion-Rechner habe und die gleichen Probleme auftreten beim Installieren von Windows 7. Ich habe noch nie eine Windows 7 Beta besessen und so weiß ich nicht, wie ich mir diese PCI.SYS beschaffen soll.
    Es wäre ganz toll und nett, wenn Du mir diese Datei vielleicht zukommen lassen könntest????
