    Hi all

    We planning to install a System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2 with SQL Server 2008 x64 on a Windows Server 2008 R2 x64.

    Hardware:
    HP DL 308 G5
    2x Intel Xeon Dualcore CPU (64bit is ok)
    RAID 1 for System 64GB
    RAID 1 for SQL Databases 146GB
    RAID 1 for SQL Logs 72GB

    Software:
    Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard German
    SQL Server 2008 Standard x64 German
    System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2 German

    Agents:
    We have to install agents on about 30 servers. thats all. we just use scom to set up monitors and co für just abaout 30 servers. thata why we want to install all components on the same server.


    When we start the prerequirements test for SCOM there were som e errors because the SQL Server and IIS are not installed now. thats okay.
    but then we read the informations unter "more" by the error for SQL Server.

    In German the Message is:

    Microsoft SQL Server ist erforderlich (siehe "details")

    Details:
    System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2 erfordert SQL Server 2005 Standard oder Enterprise Edition mit SP1 und höher oder SQL Server 2008 Standard oder Enterprise mit SP1 und höher. Hinweis: Operations Manager 2007 R2 unterstützt keine 32-bit Operations Manager Operations-Datenbank, kein Berichtsserver-Data Warehouse und keine Überwachungssammeldatenbank auf einem 64-bit Betriebsystem.


    What this means. Thas we have to use 1 Server for with win2k8x64 for the scom and his operations database and another server with a 32bit OS for the datawarehouse and reporting services?

    is it not possible to install the datawarehouse database and the reporting service on a win2k8x64 with a sql server 2008 x64?


    we installed the scom 2007 r2 in our testservers with win2003x64 and sql server 2005x64 and it runs all on the same machine.

    ich lese den Satz so, dass keine 32-Bit Komponenten unter 64-Bit installiert sein dürfen.
    Um Übersetzungsprobleme auszuschliessen habe ich sicherheitshalber in der englischen Dokumentation nachgeguckt:

    note Note Operations Manager 2007 does not support a 32-bit Operations Manager Operations database,
    Reporting Server data warehouse, or Audit Collection database on a 64-bit operating system.

    Allerdings findet sich dort noch kein Windows 2008 R2 bei den unterstützten Betriebssystemen
    und es mag sein, dass dort das Problem zu suchen ist.

    Am einfachsten sollte das mit einem Anruf beim Microsoft Support zu klären sein,
    denn die Frage hat nichts mit dem SQL Server an sich zu tun.
