Help in Replicating TimeStamp DataType...

    Frage

  • Hi,
       Most(95%) of my Tables have Time Stamp data type Column. I am using Transactional Replication for Replicating my Database.

       My Question is,Whether Replicating a Time Stamp Column will create any problem as it is created or modified automatically.

       Please guide in replicating a Time Stamp column.I searched about Replicating Time Stamp column in google and found that we need to convert the time stamp column to binary(8) column at the subscriber.

       Whether this conversion should be made manually at the subscriber database with "Alter table TbName alter Column ColName binary(8) " or we have to modify it in the Replication Wizard.

       Thanking You...

  • For merge replication the timestamp values are regenerated when the snapshot is applied at the Subscriber.

    For transactional replication they are regenerated at the subscriber unless you replicate them as varbinary(8) columns. There is a schema options switch to do this, also in the articles properties dialog there is a setting to replicate timestamp as varbinary or timestamp.

    i think:

    Publisher --> timestamp

    Subscriber -->binary(8)

    Subscriber --> modify procedure (ins, update) on this table.
