Add Resource Names to the Task Cost Overview Report

    Frage

  • Project 2013

I am looking to add another layer of granularity to the Task Cost Overview Report.  The end game is to export this report to form part of customer proposals.

Right now, I can easily generate a report showing the following

Top Level Task                Work (hrs)           Cost

      Subtask 1                          ###              $$$$

      Subtask 2                          ####            $$$$

I need another layer of granularity so the report looks like this...

Top Level Task                Work (hrs)           Cost

      Subtask 1                          ###              $$$$

          - Resource Name 1         ###              $$$$

          - Resource Name 2         ###              $$$$

      Subtask 2                          ####            $$$$

        - Resource Name 1         ###              $$$$

          - Resource Name 2         ###              $$$$

Clicking the Resource Name tickbox in the field list gives a summary of resources, but not the desired granularity.

    Thanks.

  • Exiled_In_CA,

In my opinion the best way to produce report for proposals is to export Project data to Excel using VBA. That allows you to customize the report format for whatever you need. I've done it many times.

  • You can get this in the task usage view. Have you tried that?

  • Exiled in CA --

If you are using the built in Dashboard Reports capability in Microsoft Project 2013, the best you can do is to display the Resource Names field as a column in the table.  You cannot display the Resource Names field data as a row.  Sorry.  Hope this helps.

  • This provides the right output but it is not exportable.  Looks like VBA is going to be my best solution.  Thanks.

  • After using the suggestions noted herein (thanks everyone), I agree...VBA is the best route.
