Every time I mark an embedded picture in some emails and try to copy it, outlook crashes. Outlook crashes immediately after I click on the word copy in the context menu of the picture.
I have Office 2010 and Windows XP running with all service packs and updates. I’m using outlook with Exchange Online, but the same error appeared when I was using outlook with POP and PST.
I also used process monitor in the hope to get more information what is going on in this moment. I’m getting the message “Buffer overflow”, when Outlook read the registry value of HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell
Folders\Cache. So I cleared the cache folder with no result. I’m not sure if the buffer overflow message is related to the outlook crash because there are very many events round the crash.
Does anyone has an idea what could cause the crash?
