X-TM-AS-ERS & X-ClientProxiedBy Header removal in email when mail send to outside

    Question

  • Hi Team,

    Good Day!!!,

We got specific requirement from customer that Internal exchange server information should not go out in header.

Infra setup is all are exchange 2013, 4 Servers , Combined MBX+CAS installed.

No Edge server  , Email directly delivered to Trend micro Internet message gateway as smart Host for Outside email flow.

When we check email header we can see Internal server information in "X-ClientProxiedBy  & X-TM-AS-ERS" . We need to remove this information as security policies.

We tried to run the below command to remove header ,but not solved.

    Get-SendConnector "Email to OutsideOrg" | Remove-ADPermission -User "NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON" -ExtendedRights ms-Exch-Send-Headers-Routing

Also tried to created Transport rule to modify message but that rule also did not worked.

If anyone helped on this that would be great.

    thanks,

  • Hi,

Removing "ms-Exch-Send-Headers-Routing" permission is used to remove internal server name from message header.

To analyze your issue, would you please post the message header (without sensitive information) to list the value of "X-ClientProxiedBy" and "X-TM-AS-ERS"?
If the IP of X-ClientProxiedBy is an external IP address, I suppose that we cannot use transport rule to remove it.

Also, help to list the setting of Transport rule:
    Get-TransportRule <rule name> | FL Name,Description
