Recent Windows updates causing printing problems?

Question
-
Recently, users in our network started experiencing printing blank or just portion of a job when printing from Windows. The only thing changed in our environment are the updates pushed out by Microsoft during the week of 10/11/2013. This issue applies to Windows 2003 terminal server and Windows 7, printing from Outlook, Internet, and non-Microsoft software. Since we only have HP printers in the network, don't know if it's just HP related or affects other makers. We do know that its happening to different HP models both Laserjet and Officejet. Is this happening to anyone else?
Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Hi,
First I recommend you update the printer driver from HP website. For more information, please see:
Fix printer problems
And try these steps:
1.Click Start button, click All Programs, and then click Accessories.
2.Right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.
3.Type following command and press ENTER:
ICACLS "%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Temp\Low" /setintegritylevel (OI)(CI)low
4. Restart the computer.
If the issue persists, try to perform a system restore.

You can also test in clean boot to see whether there are any software conflict.

If the methods above still not work, you may try HP diagnostic tool or contact HP support for further help.

Roget,
We are having a similar problem. Printing fails or is slow to print. It is only happening to HP printers on our network. Happening after both the Oct and Nov Windows updates. We are using Novell iPrint. Win 7 x64 workstations....sorta the same problem and different servers, but both HP Printers and both after Oct updates....I thought I fixed the issue but once automatic updates were pushed again in Nov, I had to go back to every workstation....the only thing left we didn't try yet is updating the print driver for all of the network printers. At the moment, we are using the same HP Universal Print Driver PCL 6 (v5.6.0) for all. I am going to see if there's an updated one and if that solves the problem completely, across-the-board, and permanatly (I will be rather annoyed if it happens again in Dec)....I have not had time to narrow down the culprit update(s).....How did you make out?

Hi Yankees1996,
No, I've not found a solution, and have tried updating printers to the latest firmware and drivers. The only thing I've noticed is that it doesn't seem to be an issue w/ the enterprise level printers (3000 series and up). I'm starting to wonder if this is caused by limited RAM in the 1000, 2000 series printers.
Please keep me posted on your findings.
Thanks.

No a resolution but may have found a work around. Have a LJ P1606dn printer that was having blank printing issue and loaded w/ the old LJ 4L driver and it's been printing fine for a week. However, this still doesn't fix my problem when printing from an Unix server which doesn't use any of the HP / Windows drivers. Just not sure what happened in October that would be causing this issue.
