  • Question

  • I pulled a table baseball-reference.com using power query. The roster of a team. I wanted to keep the hyperlinks they became text I haven't figured out how to pull a table and keep the hyperlinks. Is there a way to pull the tables and keep hyperlinks

    Power Query can read the 'a' tag of a hyperlink over the web without any issues and they should be shown as a text string inside the query editor. If you want interactive text that looks like hyperlinks and have the interactivity of a hyperlink then you'll need to format that text string inside of either Power BI Desktop or Excel. Power Query doesn't handle formatting, but only data types.

    Here's an article that explains how to do that in Power BI Desktop and it also applies for Power Pivot for Excel.

  • Here's also an article from Microsoft about the HYPERLINK function and how it works inside of Excel. Since Power Query can't format data, you'd be using Excel functionality to basically set the format.
