BitLocker incorrect RecoveryKey RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I've just configured BitLocker on my PC ( HP 430 G3 ) and everything went smooth but after reboot BSOD shows up ( Unmountable boot volume ) . Win 10 Pro boot from Legacy . When i reboot PC there is a windows which ask for BitLocker password and when I enter this one the BSOD shows up again. Then it goes to Recovery Options but I've not created any restore point. When i try to enter RecoveryKey which i have in .txt file occure an error which say : Cannot unlock disk with this key ( This key is from .txt created by BitLocker ... ) and i'm sure ID is correct. When i plug in my ssd into another pc, in diskmgmt.msc

my encrypted partition shows up - but of course it ask me to enter Password ( and the strange thing is - my own password which i set doesn't match. There is another option - try to Recover Key, but it doesn't match too. Is there any possibility to restore my data on this volume? It looks like creating .txt file error ...

FORGIVE MY ENGLISH PLEASE :) I have to act fast ...

    Lookin forward to quick respond,

  • Here are links for reference:
    Manage-bde: unlock

    Repair-bde.exe Parameter Reference

If the above doesn't help then reinstall OS with all the updates.

  • According to manage-bde: unlock

    - The password failed to unlock volume ...

When i try to repair-bde with my external transcend ( input 250gb ssd -> output 2tb, so should be fine )

But when it comes to scan sector boundaries for metadata a lots of log errors shows up : LOG ERROR 0xc000003b

Do you think mbr2gpt will work ? I read somewhere that BitLocker doesn't suport Legacy Boot ..

    and here is photo

language is PL, but you can see that ID printed from BitLocker is matching with the one i entered

  • Hi,

If the password failed to unlock volume, you may need to reinstall OS with all the updates.

    Best Regards,
