Alternate Access Mappings RRS feed

  • Question

  • Good morning,

I am running WSS 3.0 on Windows 2008 Web, linked to SQL Server 2005 on Windows 2003 Ent R2 SP2.

Originally the site was setup as a small internal departmenetal intranet with the default intra.domain.org.uk.  We are now in the process of publishing his external using MS TMG using the URL sharepoint.domain.org.uk.  This has been done with reasonable success.  However I am when I try to do things external (create a new site etc) the URL in the broswer shows the internal address.  The AAM shows:

Internal URL Zone Public URL for Zone
    http://intra.domain.org.uk   Default  http://intra.domain.org.uk
    http://sharepoint.domain.org.uk   Extranet  http://sharepoint.domain.org.uk

What I would like to do is to be able to use a single URL (sharepoint.domain.org.uk) for both Internal and External (Internet) users.

      • What do I need to do to change this?  (I've been told change the intra.domain.org.uk to Intranet and sharepoint.domain.org.uk to default, but I'd like to lose intra.domain.org.uk completely)
      • Do I need to change links to pages manually (http://intra.domain.org.uk/sid/CentreSID/ThisCentre.aspx to http://sharepoint.domain.org.uk/sid/CentreSID/ThisCentre.aspx) or wil it do this automatically.

    Regards Tony
