  • Hello

Emails hard deleted does not count towards mailbox but they count towards DB till retention period expired.

Like when you deleted email from outlook, not all the email got purged from DB after defrag. They exist till retention period of items expired. They removed from Mailbox but still remian in DB and you can recover those email back in mailbox using recover deleted items.

  • Agreed, mail also has a retention period and this is configured at the database level - until that expires the mail will be retained in the database.

  • Hi

The mailbox retention period on the mailboxes hasn't expired yet so they are all disconnected and still in the database.

You can purge the disconnected mailboxes in the Exchange System Manager.
