SCP - RMS Error

    Question

  • Hi, I'm having the same issue. I installed RMS a year ago and left it without completing. When I try to rework on this I get the below error.

"The SCP is registered but the root cluster cannot be contacted. You can still join an existing cluster. The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not Found"

I'm new to the AD server and have less knowledge in ADSI Edit.

Please guide with step by step instruction.

    Thank you.

    Best regards,

    Sujith.

  • Hey Sujith,

I would suggest you to first try the RMS SP2 Administration Toolkit before making changes in the ADSIEDIT.

    1. Download RMS SP2 Administration Toolkit (https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/d9101e89-ef59-4d6a-92d9-6269add06543/2012-ad-rms-error-forming-a-new-cluster-the-scp-is-registered-but-the-root-cluster-cannot-be?forum=rms)

    2. Use GetRMScp tool to check if SCP has already been registered.

    3. Use ADScpRegister tool to unregister/register SCP as follows:

At a command prompt type the following command: ADSCPRegister.exe Registerscp / UnregisterScp <URL>

You would get the url when u run the GETRMScp.exe

Depending on what you want to achieve you could either specify "RegisterSCP" or "UnregisterSCP".
