    I'm running Windows Server 2008 R2 as a virtual machine under VMware 5.5. Event ID 57: "The system failed to flush data to the transaction log. Corruption may occur" is triggered when I backup the VM with Veeam using an external drive. However, the external drive is connected to a different machine, thus, the backup travels through the network. I've already run a chkdsk and synchronized the time from Vsphere to no avail.
