Migrating to Office 365 for some accepted domain with hybrid config RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have an on-premise exchange 2013 environment with 20 accepted domains and 3000 mailboxes. All 20 accepted domains are representing different companies. Recently some companies (2 companies so far) decided to move to office 365. Total number of mailboxes for these two companies are more than 400. These companies will use same office 365 portal. Please guide me what will be the most seamless way to move these mailboxes to office 365. My plan is to create a hybrid setup and move the required mailboxes, then modify the mx records for these two accepted domains with office 365 IPs; remove hybrid configuration. Guide me if anyone has good idea and experience about these kind of migration

  • HI,

whoever reading this, be informed I could do the above task in the following order.

    1. Create a Hybrid Exchange online setup

    2. Sync the necessary users to cloud

    3. Migrate the users to cloud in batches

    4. Change the public DNS records from point to onprem to Exchange Online

    5. Remove the Hybrid Configuration and ADSync

    6. Rebuild the ADSync from the new AD Domain
