How to update "Microsoft Azure Backup Data Protection Manager" v11.0.50? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm curious about how to apply any updates to the Azure version of DPM, again it shows up as v11.0.50 and is essentially the customized "free" version of DPM 2012.

Several client are using the product, and it states that there is an update for the Agent, but all links take you to the generic MARSAgentInstaller, currently v2.0.9052.0.  This is the same link you get from the Azure portal when downloading the Agent, and it still spells it out as an agent for SCDPM, but if this "agent" is installed, there is no way to attach it to the Azure DPM AND there is no "setdpmserver" executable that can be used to point it to the DPM server.

So, I have multiple clients curious about how to deal with the "alerts" about an updated agent being available, when the all the info points you to the MARSAgentInstaller (yes, that sounds promising), which is just the Microsoft Azure Backup app used on servers that want to directly backup to Azure, NOT those that want to be agents attached to Azure DPM!!

  • Hi,

There are no Microsoft Azure Backup Server (MABS) updates.  The fist update will be released later this year to bring it up to the same feature and patch level as DPM 2012 R2.   The Alert is for the MARS agent on the MABS.
