emet 5.5 blocks and crashes IE 11 on W10. RRS feed

  • Question

  • my main browser is FF, but today i opened IE to check something and immediately it was blocked by EMET and the process crashed.

it reported this error: emet detected eaf mitigation and will close the application iexplore.exe
i restored the defalts settings of emet, and restored IE to default. it still blocks it.

the only addon i have installed is java, and some stuff by Office 2007, but all these are disabled.

flash player is also installed but the FF version.

this is a zip file with the events from the time i noticed the issue.

  • Run Windows Update and install all updates and restart your PC.

Try uninstall Java and restart your PC and check whether problem persist.

  • Open start and search for Feedback and open Feedback App and report this issue. Try disable EAF and EAF+ protection in IE and Flash and check whether problem persist.

  • i disabled EAF and it didn't crash upon starting it.

i will report it on the feedback app and wait for a fix.

(even though i don't use IE as my main browser, i just don't like it when it doesn't work as expected. the same goes for other stuff.)
