AppV 5.0 Application (Java 6_32/IE Customizations) crashing due to McAfee HIPS? Anyone ever run into this? RRS feed

  • Question

  • So we have an AppV package of Java 6_32 and certain IE customizations created for some intranet web applications. The AppV package runs great except for one thing. It will either crash a second after opening the IE window or no IE window at all due to McAfee HIPS. Our HIPS ePO policy is set to log only so it's not actively blocking AppV but it's somewhere in the interaction of the two crashing AppV.

If we disable HIPS on the client machine the application will load fine. I have other AppV packages (notepad ++) that run without issue and never crash, it's apparently something in our Java/IE customizations AppV application that is calling or accessing something that causes McAfee HIPS to crash it.

Has anyone ever run into an issue like this before? Any advice?

  • Yes, not the exact scenario but something similar. Also had a web app, no IE changes but McAfee caused all kinds of problems. You'll need to to dig into McAfee unfortunately. It's a really, really terrible anti-virus!
