New elements in group protection. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello!

I have installed DPM 2019 on WS 2019. I configured some VMs and MS SQL servers. What happen if in one of MS SQL instance someone add a new database?  For test I added new database and it event not listed in protection item of that group. In configuration of protection group is button "refresh", but it is greyed out in MS SQL.
Does DPM is that clever and can add newly added item by self to protection? Maybe require is to config something yet?

    Your faithfully,
    PK.

  • Hi,

DPM can protect SQL at the instance level or the database level.

When protection at the instance level is turned on DPM will detect new databases on that instance and automatically add them to protection.

    Best regards,
    Leon

  • Hello again.

Thank you for reply. I have protection set on instance level and in "recovery" tab new database is. By the way, it's misleading that they don't update in group protection settings. Thank you.

    Your faithfully,
    PK.
