DPM De-Dup Savings RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

Whilst the de-dup is working fantastically for us noticed two things and wondered if anyone can shed some light or seen similar:

    1. The DPM Disk Usage in the console doesn't change, and just need to add more VHD's but obviously this is then not "true" disk space usage.

    2. The DPM Exec Report in the De-Dup section is blank.

Just wondering if this is working for people, and if it is then clearly I'm no worried that something isn't working.   Restores are working fine so fairly confident the data is clean.

  • Hi,

For Issue 1, the physical disk savings is at the storage level where the .vhdx files reside.  DPM has no knowledge about the underlying virtual disks making up the storage pool, so DPM will be reporting disk usage and requiring space as needed on the individual volumes residing on the disks in the storage pool.

For issue 2, did you import the windows file services pack as per this blog.
