How to add Desktop computers to SCCM? RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have two separate instances of SCCM. One is for Desktops - we use DHCP IP Addresses and the other one is for Servers - we only use static IP Addresses.   So hopefully the two never cross paths and cause impact to each other.  I know, it's wrong and it's a long story - but that's how are environments are configured.

We recently noticed we have several desktops with static IP addresses that are missing in our SCCM environment for Desktops, because they don't have a DHCP IP Address and they were configured intentionally with static IP addresses.

Is there a way to import the desktops with static IP addresses into our SCCM instance for workstations with out impacting our SCCM World?

    Thanks,

  • SCCM is unaware of how the IP address got on the device. You can just manually install the ConfigMgr client and set its site code to the Desktop site and it should heartbeat for discovery.

If you want to use Client Push, consider using Active Directory System Discovery instead of manually importing the record.
