Printing problems in Win7 ? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Good Day, eh.

      Was wondering if anyone else is having problems printing with Win7, when trying to print from a browser ?? Prints fine from other applications, but from any browser it only prints down the middle of the page, kinda like it is printing from a little Epson receipt printer. Only about 1/3 of what should be printing shows up on the page, and it is the lefthand 1/3, but down the middle of paper. It is not the printer or printer settings, as it is happening at all the branches where we have deployed Win7 machines, and with different printers as well. Thanks.

  • Have you tried making sure the printer driver is the most up to date one ?

  • yes, Win7 drivers from HP, printing test pages and printing from MS Word and other apps works just fine, only when printing from browsers

  • How do you deploy the Windows systems and printers?

    Does it work properly in No Add-ons Mode? Click the Start Button, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and then click Internet Explorer (No Add-ons).  If the issue does not reoccur, it may be caused by an IE Add-on. In that case, let’s continue to perform the following steps to narrow down the cause.

     Check Internet Explorer Add-Ons
    =========================
    1. Click Tools, and then click Internet Options.
    2. Click the "Programs" tab, and then click Manage Add-ons.
    3. Select an add-on in the Name list, and then click Disable.
    4. Restart IE with Add-ons and check the issue again.

    If the issue is resolved, the disabled Add-on was the cause of the issue. If the issue reoccurs, continue to disable the next Add-on using the same method.

    By doing so, we could determine which Add-on contributed to the issue.

  • Hi, Thanks.

     This behavior occurs with FireFox as well. I believe we have it narrowed down to our Epson receipt printer. Epson's new driver for Win7, which was a huge download, seems to be taking over when ever we try and print from a browser. When I uninstalled the new driver, the HP Printer works just fine, only problem with that is that the Epson printer won't work without the new Win7 driver. Epson's new driver is called ADP, for Advaced Printer Driver.
