How to handle E911 with Lync Mobile Client RRS feed

  • Are there any documents out there describing how E911 and dialing from a Lync Mobile Client on a mobile phone works and how it should be handled to be compliant.

    If dialing from the Lync Mobile client the call will actually be dialed from the Lync server so how will the Location be handled?

    Or should the statement be that in an emergency you must dial from the native mobile phone (Not through Lync Mobile Client)... would a statement like that be compliant?

  • There is no support for E911 in relation to Mobile clients

    Why would this need to be any different than not having Lync Mobile clients, would you think that users will first fire up the Lync Mobile client before dialing the emergency number?

    Yes, if the users are instructed to use the Lync Mobile Client for dialing I assume they will use it for dialing the emergency as well.

    The difference I think of in a E911 perspective would be...
     - If dialing directly from the phone the E911 will be handled by the Operator
     - If dialed through the Lync Mobile Client I'm not sure how the E911 information will be handled.

  • Most probably users will not fire up the Lync Mobile client.

    Lync Mobile does not support E911 in this release

  • Even if a person dials 911 from his cell phone (not via the Lync client) there is no certainty by when the  Dispatcher will  be able to locate.
