Blocking Microsoft Store - Stops Groove Music Player and Calculator from launching

    Question

  • We have implemented a Group Policy to block Microsoft Store on Windows 10 Devices. This works great! But inadvertently It would appear this is stopping Apps like Groove Music, Calculator etc from running. The App loads and closes after a few seconds.

    Group policies Applied:

Computer  Configuration>Policies>Administrative Templates>Windows   Components/Store>Turn off the Store application
    User   Configuration>Policies>Administrative Templates>Control   Panel/Programs>Hide "Windows Marketplace"

Groove Music Player, and Calculator are trusted Windows Store Apps, and installed out of the box in Windows 10 Enterprise x64

Is there a fix for this, or is this by design of group policy setting. Surley we should be able to block Microsoft Store, but allow Apps like Calculator and groove music to run.

  • Hi,

Enable "Turn off the Store application" policy setting should not block APPs like Groove Music, Calculator, etc. And 'Hide "Windows Marketplace"' policy setting has nothing to do with this.

(I have tested this in my local lab, after enable these two policy settings, both Apps work well for me.)
