Windows 10 and Edge opening PDF's RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Has anyone found a fix for Edge opening PDF documents on Windows file server? From what I've seen testing opening a pdf using the unc path \\server\share\doc.pdf is okay. Using network drive letters it fails. The file opens okay locally also. It seems if you open and try saving it to a another location the flag for block gets enabled. Need to right click and check the unblock. Once that is unchecked the file opens ok on the mapped network drive. With Adobe it is okay. You shouldn't have to keep un-checking this...

Looked at items like this below, but the fix may work for one person but not another.

    Thank you,

  • Hello,

Try re-registering Microsoft Edge. Perform these steps:

    1. Search for Windows PowerShell using Cortana or Windows Search.

    2. From results, right click on Windows PowerShell and select Run as administrator.

    3. Then type following command and press Enter key:

    Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers -Name Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml” -Verbose}

    Let the command complete.

    4. Close Windows PowerShell and check if the issue is resolved now.

Let us know if this helps!

  • Did not help

Saving PDF local drive okay and opening okay

Saving PDF to network drive and opening doesn't work. Get the following in the browser:

    ms-appx-web://microsoft.microsoftedge/assets/errorpages/dnserror.html?ErrorStatus=0x800C0007&NetworkStatusSupported=1#file:///X:/test.pdf

  • Thanks for your reply.

Have you already resetting Microsoft Edge app from Settings app > System > Apps & features > Microsoft Edge > Advanced Options > Reset?

    Regards.

  • Hi,

Does the issue occur on other devices?

Did you check the error with other web browser?

Need to right click and check the unblock.

Would you provide a capture for this actions?

Please run "winver" in run box to check the existing system version.

    Bests,

  • The Windows version is at 1903

It is happening on multiple computers

There is no error message per say just this: ms-appx-web://microsoft.microsoftedge/assets/errorpages/dnserror.html?ErrorStatus=0x800C0007&NetworkStatusSupported=1#file:///X:/test.pdf

If local on the c drive is okay and opens with the path if at the root of c drive:

    C:/test.pdf

The computer are fresh installs and older installs.

Also on the local drive it can be opened with the unblock box there. With the unc path it can be opened. With the drive letter of a network sure it gets the ms-appx-web://microsoft.microsoftedge/assets/errorpages/dnserror.html?ErrorStatus=0x800C0007&NetworkStatusSupported message.
