Project Server 2013 Not able to access PWA from Web Front End Server RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

We have configured Project Server 2013 in three tier architecture (1WFE+1APP+1SQLDB) by following the below URL. The web application and PWA site is working fine in APP server. When we access PWA from WFE server , showing web page can not be found. But web application is working in WFE server.

    http://app working fine

    http://app/pwa working fine

    http://wfe working fine

http://wfe/pwa web page can not be found

    Thanks in advance, Taj

  • Hi,

The way you are trying to browse will not work. You will have a unified browsing link for any site collection in this case PWA. logically, the DNS name is bind with the Front End IP (in your case) to make site browse able using a custom name.

Go to Central Admin --> Manage Service application, select project server service and click manage. You will see the link that you will be using to browse your PWA.

  • Hi Syed,

Thanks for your reply. I checked the URL in CA, the url is http://app/pwa, If need to use application server URL (http://app/pwa), what is the use for web front end server. The purpose of the WFE server is to bear the load and provide the better performance?. Have I done anything wrong? Do I need to configure the CA in WFE and run the project server service in WFE?

    Thanks in advance, Taj

  • technically both FE and App are same, the thing that separates then is the services that you configure on them. You don't need to reconfigure anything there. The Web Front end server is going to be actually handling your web traffic.Your application servers will not handle traffic.  Application servers typically will handle your searching and Indexing.  This can be quite intensive depending on your environment, so I recommend segmenting them if possible.

refer to below links for further clarification

  • Hi Syed,

Thanks for the details, I have gone though the links, the services are configured as provided in the documentation. But i could not access PWA using http://wfe/pwa as mentioned in the below link. Also when I access http://wfe from outside the WFE server, i am getting 401 unauthorized.

    Thanks in advance, Taj
