DPM 2010 Server Hardware Refresh RRS feed

  • Question

  • Has anyone out there done a refresh of a DPM 2010 server BUT kept an existing hardware array ? I have an existing DPM server that is overdue for a hardware refresh, but the iSCSI array is not due for a refresh for another year. I can build a new server from scratch or Ghost/PlateSpin a clone of the existing server, but cannot get a straight answer from MS or DELL on the array. I cannot lose 40+ TB of recovery data. Has anyone done this ?

  • Yes, I had a similar instance whereby I had to do a server refresh and I simply backed up the dpm database , installed the new server , presented the storage and then restored the database. There are also powershell scripts that can re-attach protection groups storage to protection groups.Let me know if you need them and I can send them onto you.
