Office 2016 for Mac Search Issues - multiple users RRS feed

  • Hi All,

    Does anyone else who uses Macs for their organisation experience problems with the search functionality not working?

    We have tried the repair tool which can fix it for a while, but it just keeps coming back and is affecting many users.

    Could you please tell me the version of your macOS? 
    If your Mac is using macOS Mojave, then it may be a known issue and Microsoft is aware of and investigating the issue.

    Search doesn't work in Outlook for Mac after MacOS upgrade.

    And if it is not macOS Mojave.

    Did you used the OutlookSearchRepair to repair it? If not, please try using OutlookSearchRepair to repair it and see if there is any difference.

    If the issue persists, please provide me with the version of your Outlook for Mac (Click Outlook > about Outlook) and the error message shown when the issue occurs if there is.

    Any update, please feel free to post back.

  • Hi Aidan, It is High Sierra, not Mojave. We have tried the repair tool which works for a little while but search still breaks some time after using it. Outlook version 16.22 amongst others. Any ideas? Thanks, Dan

    Hi Dan,

    How long does it take for the issue to reappear after running the repair tool? If it only takes a short time, I'd like to suggest repairing the search function using the tool, then use a "clean startup" and see whether the problem persists. This helps eliminate if the issue is related to any backgraound progams. For more information about clean startup in Outlook for Mac, you may refer to this article.
