  • Question

  • Hi,

can anyone say definitively if VoiceMail Preview, which if I understand it correctly means that when one receives a VMail they also get a text version of it as well in the same message - is available if one is using an on-prem pbx rather than the Cloud PBX?

    Many thanks,

  • Hi Whistler4,

Based on my research, it is unavailable to use an On Premise PBX/IP-PBX Phone system to achieve cloud voice mail feature in Skype for Business currently. (Reference: https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/nexthop/2017/10/13/how-to-set-up-and-configure-voicemail-for-skype-for-business-online-users/)

To enable visual voicemail, we have to deploy phone system in Office 365, and after that please make sure you are enabled for Exchange Unified Messaging as well.

Currently, Cloud Connector cannot co-exist with Lync or Skype for Business on-premises servers.

If you want to move existing Lync or Skype for Business users to Office 365 and keep providing on-premises telephony to your users, consider Phone System in Office 365 with on-premises PSTN connectivity using an existing Skype for Business Server deployment. Here an article for your reference: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/skypeforbusiness/skype-for-business-hybrid-solutions/plan-your-phone-system-cloud-pbx-solution/plan-phone-system-with-on-premises-pstn-connectivity

    Kind regards,

    Calvin Liu

  • Hi Calvin,

    many thanks for your reply.

After many phone calls with Microsoft about this they eventually came up with the same answer as you!

    So frustrating.

    Thanks again,

    Whistler4
