Public Folder Size RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,
In the last week, my public fodler has growed to 7GB. I reminber the last mongth that my public folder size was 700MB. So I have read that can be corruption...
I run the following comands, eseutil /d, eseutil /r, isinteg.exe -s olexch1 -fix -verbose -test alltestbut. My retention time is set to 0 days.
But my Public Folder is still at 7GB, how can I see what is taking this place?

Also I run get-publicfolderstatitics and I open Outlook to check the size. i do not see the 7GB, no where.

I have Exchange 2007 last update

    Thank you very much
    DS

  • Well, I would say for now just let the IS Maintenance run for 24 hours straight. No backups or AV scans to interfere and lets see if more space is reclaimed.

  • Look for Events 1221 in the app log on the server. It should tell you how much space is being recovered nightly within the store.

The offline defrags can only recover waht is available.

If you arent seeing events 1221, check to see if the IS maintenance is running.

    http://www.msexchange.org/articles-tutorials/exchange-server-2007/monitoring-operations/exchange-online-database-scanning-part1.html

Note also that online maintenance is a "Low-priority" task. So if you are running a backup or antivirus scan on the store at the same time online defragmentation is supposed to run, the online maintenance will be disabled, so its important that you have no conflicts between online maintenance and other scheduled tasks.

  • if nothing helps you have the last option of moving the repilca to some other server and recreating a blank store

  • The database "Second Storage Group\Public Folder Database" has 423 megabytes of free space after online defragmentation has terminated.
So that mean I have 6.5GB of use, but in my Outlook  Public Folder size is 73MB.
    Thanks

  • And there is no tools or cmdlet to have this information?

    Thanks

  • Is the IS Maintance completing per the article above?

If you set the IS Maint. to a custom schedule and run it continously, does more free space become available.

What was the total of the folders when checking with get-publicfolderstatistics?

  • From Outlook you will see only the PF data and not data from NON_IPM_DATA, this may be one reason.

Also take a dump of the database and see what that says

    Use eseutil /ms

You can post, but I guess the output is long, what does the output show you in size?
