how to force same theme and style

    Question

  • hello

we manage a computer room for young students with 25 pc  windows 7 joined to active directory domain windows server 2012r2.

our students use a shared domain user account during the lesson. even if the user account is standard user they are able to change the theme, style, and even folder icon and some times this is a problem for other students sharing the same computer.

for this reason we would like to have a standard desktop theme, style and avoid change folder icon.

do you have any suggestion how to achieve this?

thanks in advance for any help

  • Hi,
Do the students have knowledge regarding registry key? If not, you could deploy the registry key via group policy preference to restrict the related update.
Regarding preventing changing folder icon, you could see details in the link as below:

Regarding Configuring a Registry Item, please see https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc753092.aspx
However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you could restore the registry if a problem occurs.
