Newly built windows 2012 R2 WSUS clients arent reporting in WSUS RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello there,

The newly built windows 2012 WSUS clients arent reporting in WSUS. The clients and the WSUS servers are hosted across different sites. The port 8530 is open on the Firewall and I can telnet to the port.

These are the warning messages I see in Windows update log file.

Can someone please help me fix the issue?

  • Hello

It seems like a connection issue between your WSUS server and Clients.

On the client side, browse to "http://xxxxx:8530/selfupdate/wuident.cab" and check if there is file download prompt.

If not, there must be something wrong with the connection.

Double check the WSUS server address, DNS, firewall, etc.

Hope my answer could help you and look forward to your feedback.

    Best Regards,
    Ray

  • Hi Ray, thanks for your response.  Yes, that turned out to be a firewall issue. Network guys changed the rules on the Firewall and that fixed the issue.
