Moving sps 2003 sp2 to MOSS 2007 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

we have a server running sps2003 sp2 on which there are 9 virtual servers. I need to move verything on a MOSS farm we already have.

I should make the backup of the db on SPS2003, create a web application on MOSS and restore the db on MOSN, right ?

Considered it both SPS and MOSS are production environments (I do not have to take any risk), what would your approach be ?

    Thanks

  • Hi,

    Thanks to share your post.

For the issue, my approach would be like this:

    1.       Backed up your SharePoint 2003 environment

    2.       Stood up a duplicate SharePoint 2003 Virtual PC environment

    3.       Make the upgrade from SharePoint 2003 to SharePoint 2007 in the virtual

    4.       Backed up the newly upgraded SharePoint 2007 data

    5.       Moved the data to a staging MOSS 2007

    6.       Start moving the data to its new location, combining libraries, deleting others etc.

And the followed article should also give you a hand:
